TREKKER BUCKS PROGRAM
2010 Participation Awards Program

1. Program: The club participation awards program is designed to reward members taking an
active and responsible part in making the Illinois Trekkers Volkssport Club successful. Three areas
are emphasized: Club leadership, Event working, and Meeting participation. Each of these requires
effort, interest, and commitment to the ideals of volkssporting, especially in southwestern Illinois.

2. Awards: Points are established for various activities that club members participate in
throughout the year and result in “Trekker Bucks”. The “Trekker Bucks” can be spent on club
activities, reduced year-round coupons, merchandise, or other things controlled through the club
treasury. Ten (10) points earn one “Trekker Buck.” Points can be earned in any of the areas listed
below. Points are counted beginning with the Lady of the Snows night walk through the November
club meeting the following year. “Trekker Bucks” cannot be carried over to following years, must
be used as soon as possible before December 31, 2011.

3. Participation Values: Points are awarded as follow
Club Leadership (as elected/announced in club meeting)
  • Elected Club Officer and Directors: 40 points
  • Committee Chairperson: 20 points
  • (Publicity, Volkssport, Awards/Achievements, Properties & Services, Webmaster, Footnotes,
  • Points Manager, Meeting Hall, Photographer, Nominating, Special Activities, Refreshments,
  • Data Base Administrator)
  • New Member Recruiter: 6 points
(as reported through the Treasurer/Membership Chairman)
Event Worker (as determined by event coordinator)
Points are awarded as follows:
Credit is given for only one service--whichever has the highest point value.
  • 4 points working a SINGLE shift of < 4 hours on the day of the event
  • 8 points working MORE than a single shift, contributing significantly to the day's event.
  • 6 points assisting in TEARING down the trail, usually a 1-3 hour job.**
  • 30 points as EVENT coordinator***
  • 25 points as YRE coordinator****
  • 8 points marking the trail PRIOR to the event*
*Actual trail marking effort, not just pre-walking. Points are in addition to other event points.
** Actual trail clearing effort, not just accompanying. Points are in addition to other event points.
***Event Coordinators earns additional points if actually marks or tears down trail.
****YRE Coordinators earn only the coordinator points
Meeting points are awarded as follows: ****:
Attendance 4 points
Bringing Refreshments 12 points
**** Only one value per meeting/event is awarded, the highest valued activity.
Note: Maximum “Trekker Bucks” per year is 50

4. Your Action: Volunteer and help to lead the club at whatever levels you can, AND make
sure your points get counted. See you on the trails and in the meetings.
